The Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square.

While visiting Glasgow on my tour of Scotland, I had the opportunity to stay in a really cool, modern hotel right near the center of the action. It was less than a five minute walk to George Square, and the hotel itself was really fun. It's the #2-ranked hotel in Glasgow on Trip Advisor for a reason!

The staff at the Ibis Styles were energetic and friendly. Our room was ready a bit ahead of check-in time, and they didn't give us any trouble about heading straight up.

Everything about the hotel, from the brightly colored lobby and 24-7 complimentary snack and beverages, to the elevator paintings and room decor, lent a cheerful and hip vibe to the place.

The room itself wasn't huge, but it was very clean and full of useful amenities. I absolutely loved the Tardis painted on the wall behind the bed, which was topped with a Tunnock's teacake (a delicious chocolate-covered marshmallow and graham cracker treat native to Glasgow).

Even the ceiling light was unique:

So were the rugs! If you look closely you'll see that the design depicts specific sites in Glasgow. How neat!

We also had a really lovely view of Glasgow from our floor-to-ceiling windows. Before we set out to explore the city, we grabbed a croissant and some hot chocolate from the convenient snack area in the lobby. It was just what we needed on a chilly day as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

While in the lobby, we noticed other guests playing classic video games. There was also a pool table and a bar. The Ibis Styles definitely caters to a younger crowd, particularly groups of young travelers and business professionals who also want a place to unwind at the end of a day of meetings. While we sipped our beverages, I actually saw a group of suit-clad young men having a business meeting at the next table. (I did also see a group of much-older guests, as well, so really this is less about age and more about energy and joie de vivre!)

In the morning, we headed down to breakfast. There was a variety of fresh meats and cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, breads, pastries, and adorable yogurt, fruit, and oat parfaits. I appreciated being able to have a healthy breakfast before hitting the road. The cute mini-doughnut wasn't too bad a touch!

Unfortunately, our time in Glasgow was rather short, but when I return I will definitely make a stop at the Ibis Styles. It was a refreshing twist on corporate hotel culture that was really ideal for the stage of life I'm currently in.
